Arnold van der Smeede is specialised in international tax planning of high net worth individuals and family businesses. He strives to find creative and practical solutions that are implemented and guided from A to Z. He is further specialised in structures to safeguard the privacy of families. He also has significant experience advising on tax aspects of international (corporate) restructuring.
Arnold studied tax law at Leiden University (1989). He was a founding partner of Spigthoff (2001-2010). In 2011 he founded Arcagna with his team. Arnold is recommended by various independent tax guides and is a member of the International Fiscal Association, International Bar Association and Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
Nathalie Idsinga has more than twenty years of experience as tax adviser. She is specialised in advising family owned businesses and high net worth individuals in both national and international context. She also advises family funds and charities. She has a solution-based approach and is committed to her clients.
Nathalie is a frequent author of articles on private client topics and is co-author of several books. Nathalie studied tax law at the University of Amsterdam and is a lecturer in notarial and tax law at this university. Nathalie is a member of the estate planning section of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (NOB).
Lourens advises high-net-worth families and individuals about their estate planning and the governance and transfer of their family businesses and property. This includes family- and corporate law, nationally and internationally.
Lourens has been a civil law notary since 2013. He is a member of the Royal Dutch Association of Civil Law Notaries and the Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners (STEP).
Wouter assists wealthy individuals and family businesses, both nationally and internationally. He mostly advises on business succession, estate planning, asset structuring, charities and family foundations/trusts. In his advice and in the (legal) implementation of his advice, Wouter always has an eye for the person behind the wealth.
In 2002 he graduated from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Since 2008, Wouter has been associated with this university as a lecturer in gift tax, inheritance tax, real estate transfer tax and estate planning. Wouter is also trained as a mediator and a member of the Association of Collaborative Professionals. He is regularly involved in divorces and the settlement of inheritances.
Hendrik studied fiscal economics at the University of Groningen and completed his Master’s degree in 2009. Hendrik worked at Ernst & Young Belastingadviseurs LLP in the Business Tax Advisory/Private Client Services practice (September 2009 - August 2014).
In September 2014 Hendrik joined Arcagna as a tax adviser. Hendrik advises high net worth individuals and family businesses. He is specialised in the implementation of corporate structures to safeguard the privacy of families, wealth planning and estate planning. Hereby he strives to practical and workable solutions. He also advises charitable institutions (ANBI's)
Hendrik is a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (NOB).
Ellen is specialized in corporate law en especially in the execution and counsel of corporate restructuring, naturally in consultation with the notary and tax advisor.
Ellen studied Dutch law at the Rijks University in Leiden. Since 1996 she worked as a lawyer at several law firms, with Bluelyn as the last firm before joining Arcagna in January 2017.
Pauline van Leeuwen advises high net worth individuals and family businesses from a corporate law perspective. Pauline has considerable experience in general corporate law advisory, corporate governance, (international) restructurings, joint ventures, M&A transactions and corporate finance.
Pauline studied notarial law at the University of Leiden. Before joining Arcagna in July 2015, she worked at an international law firm for almost ten years and at a boutique law firm for over three years.
In March 2012 Céline joined Arcagna as a tax adviser.
Céline studied fiscal economics at the University of Amsterdam and started her career in 1999 at PricewaterhouseCoopers Belastingadviseurs N.V. (PwC). During the period of more than 12 years that she worked in the Private Client practice of PwC in Amsterdam, Céline gained a broad experience in advising (familliy owned) businesses and their shareholders, in a national as well as an international context.
Céline is a tax generalist with a practical approach, who looks beyond just tax issues, so that she can fulfil the role of trusted adviser. Besides a broad experience in tax advice. Céline has considerable experience in tax compliance as well. Céline is a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (NOB).
Lara has considerable experience in both corporate law as family law. She focuses on advising high-net-worth individuals and family businesses, especially in situations where corporate law, succession law and matrimonial property regimes assemble.
Lara graduated in Dutch law as well as notary law and has been working as Candidate Notary since 2004. In January 2017 she made the transition from Bluelyn to Arcagna.
Lara is a member of the KNB (Royal Dutch Association of Civil Law Notaries), and EPN (Association of Estate Planners in the notary field). She finished the Grotius specialism study Estate Planning (cum laude).
Sofie specializes in advising high net worth individuals and family owned businesses, particularly in the field of business succession and both national and international estate planning. She also specializes in advising on tax aspects of last wills and matrimonial property law and Sofie advises charitable organizations (ANBI’s).
Sofie graduated in 2010 in both tax law (cum laude) and in Dutch civil law at the University of Utrecht. After working for several years at Loyens & Loeff, she switched to Arcagna in 2014. Sofie is a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (NOB). Sofie finished the Grotius specialisation study Estate Planning in June 2017 (cum laude).
Mignon advises large family businesses and their shareholders. She is interested in topics such as business transfer, privacy protection and asset structuring. She strives to provide insight into the often complex laws and regulations and to find a suitable solution for her clients, whereby, in addition to taxation, family relationships and business interest are not forgotten. It is precisely this dynamic that makes the profession interesting for Mignon.
Mignon graduated in both Dutch tax law (Leiden University) and American tax law (University of Florida) and has been working as a tax consultant since 2011. In 2019 she made the switch from Meijburg & Co to Arcagna.
Mignon is a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers and the New York State Bar Association.
Thomas is specialized in advising wealthy individuals and family businesses. He strives to provide clear, practicable advice using understandable language. Thomas thereby takes all interests into account, not only taxation.
Thomas studied tax law at Leiden University and is a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers.
Rowena graduated in notarial and tax law in 2015. She started her career as deputy civil-law notary at DLA Piper, where she worked in the field of corporate law on (cross-border) mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings and reorganisations. Thereafter, Rowena was part of the ‘niche’ practice of high net worth individuals and family-owned businesses of Loyens & Loeff.
In the beginning of 2021, she made the transition to Arcagna, where she is working on matters regarding inheritance-, matrimonial- and corporate law. She mainly focuses on estate planning, family governance, corporate succession and public welfare institutions (ANBI).
Rowena is a member of the Royal Dutch Association of Civil Law Notaries (KNB) and graduated with honours from the Postgraduate Notarial Professional Training in 2018.
Marit supports the team in advisory work for high net worth individuals and family owned businesses in a broad tax area.
Marit started her career as a legal assistant (clerk) at the Amsterdam Court of Appeal, where she worked in the fraud team. She has gained considerable experience with the criminal aspects of taxation.
Marit graduated (cum laude) in 2014 in Dutch criminal law at VU Amsterdam. In 2019 she completed her Master’s degree in tax law at the University of Amsterdam. Marit has been working at Arcagna since January 2021.
Rachel supports the team in connection with advising high net worth individuals and family businesses from a corporate law perspective. Rachel has considerable experience as paralegal in the field of general corporate law, corporate governance, (international) restructurings, joint ventures and M&A transactions.
Rachel studied law at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. Before joining Arcagna in October 2020, she worked as a senior corporate paralegal at an international law firm for more than five years and at a boutique law firm for over eight years.
Mark has been working at Arcagna since September 2019 and specializes in compliance with regard to both income tax and corporate tax. Mark is always looking for a practical solution, without losing sight of the wishes and vision of the client.
Mark studied tax law and economics at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam and also completed the master in tax economics at the University of Amsterdam. Mark worked for Loyens & Loeff N.V. for more than four years, before joining Arcagna.
Jasper advises private clients on national and international aspects of personal income and corporate income tax.
Jasper studied tax law at Maastricht University and completed his Master's degree in 2015. Jasper started his career at Baker McKenzie, where he worked in the international tax practice.
Jasper joined Arcagna in July 2018. Jasper is a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (NOB).
Marian gained lots of experience during her work as secretary at several law firms, before joining Arcagna in 2011 as Office Manager.
After finishing her secretarial studies, Gaitrie worked at several notary firms where she gained considerable experience in the corporate law field. As per 1 January 2017 she works at Arcagna as notarial secretary.
Emilie completed her HBO law studies in Utrecht in January 2018 and has been working as a secretary at Arcagna since June 2020.
